Frequently Asked Questions
TickAre there any external software requirements?
No, only a Pipeliner database hosted on a Notes Client or Domino Server.
TickCan the same tool be used for multiple migrations?
Yes, a single Pipeliner database can export Mail or Applications to any target platform, as many times as you want.
TickDo I need to perform the migration myself?
You can either perform the migration yourself, or subcontract the work to us, or to any other Business Partner.
TickIs the tool multi-threaded?
Yes, up to 10 databases can be migrated simultaneously. You can also configure it to process multiple databases consecutively, until all migrations are complete.
TickWhat about local Mail Archives?
Local Mail Archives can be pre-processed, for example to upload them to a Server, or convert to PST in-place.
TickIs encrypted Mail handled?
Yes, encrypted Mail can be decrypted prior to migration.
TickWhat if I have too much data for a single migration weekend?
Use Delta exporting to migrate the majority of data in advance, then migrate only new and modified data over the designated weekend.
TickCan I keep using my applications in a different platform?
You can choose to use and update migrated data in a new platform, e.g. as metadata or in Google Docs, but generally Notes application functionality is no longer available.
TickWhat does migrated data look like?
Mail is able to be used as normal mail in the new environment (filing, replying etc). Applications are kept as close as possible to the original Notes format, including exporting Views, Embedded Views, Form UI, Tabbed Tables, Sections etc.
TickDo I need to do anything to migrate Applications?
No, migration is performed automatically. However because each Notes application can be different, you can also define individual settings per database, for example to define a Folder hierarchy for exported documents.
TickWhat is actually migrated from an Application database?
Notes Documents become PDFs, HTML or ASPX pages. Attachments are exported in their native format and linked to each exported PDF/Page. Rich Text, Images, Tables etc all appear as closely as possible to the original Notes format.
TickWhat is actually migrated from a Mail database?
When exporting Mail or Journals, each NSF becomes a PST, or individual emails can be exported to EML/ICS/VCF formats.
TickCan I select what to migrate?
Yes, you can use various data selectors or @formulas to specify exactly what to migrate per Database, e.g. selecting via date or removing Administration documents.
TickHow does the tool migrate Mail to M365?
Each NSF is exported to a PST, and the Pipeliner creates information files to be used in the MS network upload process.
TickWhat about security?
You can automatically transfer Notes Database ACL security to SharePoint or Google.
TickDoes the solution handle Doclinks and Embedded Views?
Yes, Doclinks and Embedded View links work within the same database, between different databases, and even in SharePoint.
